This is another answer to the District Committee on Ministry sent Feb. 2019
I believe that God exists as eternal creator, Godhead of the Trinity, Father, and finisher of my faith. He is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, and eternal. He is a God of covenant relationship, who established the relationship with humanity first with Adam in the Garden of Eden. Then, through Abraham and finally and completely through the death of his only Son, Jesus Christ. It was by God’s prevenient grace that he sent His Son to die for us and that he draws us into his fold.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who, by God’s justifying grace, died for my sins and the sins of the world. I believe that he was born of a virgin, through the power of the Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, as foretold by prophecy. I believe Jesus Christ is fully man and fully God, part of the Holy Trinity, who died and rose again. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, who is fully Spirit and fully God. The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. It is by God’s sanctifying grace that the Holy Spirit empowers me and quickens me to do God’s will, convicts me of sin, and continues the work of sanctification within me.
I believe that the Bible is the Word of God, written by men, inspired by the Holy Spirit and interpreted in light of other Scriptures, early Christian cultural and linguistic study, tradition, reason, and experience.
Finally, I believe in heaven and hell and eternal life for all in one place or the other. In accordance with Romans 10:9-10 and Acts 16:31, I believe that only faith and profession in Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord, and Son of God can save one for eternal life in heaven.
