Just a little devotional thought for you today.

I do not believe that everything happens for a reason. Believing this may, in fact, make one angry and bitter at God. Nor is it true that God is with some and not with others. When I hear a survivor of a tragedy say that God was with them, I cringe. I understand why they say it. But, the (unintended) implication is that God was not with those who did not survive. I do not believe that God is with some and not with others.

As the world becomes more corrupt, we cannot let ourselves become bitter or cynical. Evil has been loose in the world for thousands of years. The problem is that we are seeing evil’s face more and more, as the end draws near. (MT. 24:6)

We see things from a temporal point of view, but God is eternal. We won’t know all the answers during our short stay on earth. I do know God is with the dying just as much as He is with those who are healed. I know God is with all of us, where we are, during our time of need.

John 14:1-3 Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.[a] If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?[b] 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

Matthew 6:26 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

Blessings to you,

Don
